About a week ago, I read this post by a blogger that I follow, The Queen B. I was really impressed by the way that she and her family have cut back on expenses, but didn't think that I could do something similar because....well, no one is cleaning my house I'm not paying anyone to clean my house, I don't have a lawn to mow, I don't have a phone service, I don't use the dry cleaners, etc. While these were all very real expenses that she cut back on (impressively!) the advice just doesn't help me.
That said...keeping better track of the money that I have and the money that I spend, I found a GREAT web program that I wanted to share with you. Quicken Online will (safely!) keep track of your different bank accounts and analyze your spending. It also keeps track of the bills that I have to pay, when that money will clear my bank account, and how much money I still have left in those bank accounts. It is quite an impressive piece of software...and its free!

there is also a program called mint.com. Same idea, also free. Haven't used it myself, but have heard others who were very happy with it.

Our teenage son turned us onto his money tracking program that he got from school. My husband and I looked at our expenses and did see alot of waste. I did insist on lowering the dining out and Starbucks but I still kept the housekeeper. We don't have phone or cable service either.
Great idea!
